So no one told you life was gonna be this way or The one with the Rembrandts

So no one told you life was gonna be this way: That is very true…I am 38 now and I had to find out a lot by myself…
While working on my own private little challange right now to dare a comparison between Friends and How I met your mother a question started to dawn in my mind. What was actually first? The series that aired in 1994 or the sountrack that was, according to Google, released in 1994 or 1995?
Your job’s a joke, you’re broke. Your love life’s D.O.A: Well, when it is really that bad than it is time for some Lovy Loverson…but now I finally found out what D.O.A. means as I had to look it up now and never really understood it before…
I mean I am now at the beginning of season 6. That means that I have heard the song from The Rembrandts now at least a 120 times. Every day. Since at least 4 weeks straight now. Yeeeess, I am still not tired of watching the Friends playing around in the fountain, only being interrupted by their aging Ego in the series. I am still not tired of watching them singing, dancing and fooling around with each other. Still not tired of having in mind that this prolog was played throughout the entire series so it might have been one of the most played songs right after If you go away from NKOTB. And German that I am, I am usually watching the song from the very beginning to the very end when Monica Geller-Bing switches off the lights. Very disciplined. On the other hand only doing so the episodes get a real start. I am wondering a bit why The Rembrandts did not (yet) have some kind of cameo in the series. Or did I miss that? I mean there were songs about smelly cats and songs about little black curly hair in the bed. But I never saw them or any reference so far. But let’s see.
It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear: Ok, I see that. So what about putting the pedal to the pedal then?
I was really amazed when I found out that there is an official song that was shot together with entire cast. And while the band was really focused, the Friends did what they were so good at. Just fooling around, never serious but a bit annoying to the band. And somehow the two guys look a bit like the young Bob Dylan and the even younger Brat Pitt with their John-Lennon-like-sunglasses while they all seem to have a good time there.
When it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month or even your year, but I’ll be there for you…will you be there for me too?
